Please Consider Volunteering for a Position or Committee Member

January 7, 2022

From the Retiring Chair - Marg Poste

There are many facets to operating a volunteer organization, particularly a theatre one, to make a production happen.

A financially viable organization is the first key part. Sponsors and donors help to cover the costs that allow for the rental of facilities, including storage, which make up the bulk of the expenses before a show even appears on stage.  Grants cannot be relied upon.

People who believe in the organization and its value to the communities it serves are also vital as if only a few people try to keep it going, it is doomed to failure.  New energy and new ideas from people who are willing to work in a team situation to produce the finest product they can, are necessary for a board.

People who also believe the above, can work in a committee-style situation, coming to board meetings as necessary but working at a distance to do the work needed for a production.  This shares the burden of the tasks.

We teach - you do not work alone.  Many life skills you already have can work in a volunteer theatre organization.

All of the above apply to the Hanover Community Players. If you would like to keep HCP in existence it is necessary to be ready to help in some way.  We rely upon you, the public and our patrons for our existence.

Attend the AGM on Feb. 15th; decide to become involved in some way.  You can reach out to us during any meeting as they are open to the public.  If you prefer to do it privately, contact us through info@hanovercommunityplayers.  Thank you for reading.
