Sound Designer/Manager for a Musical

March 24, 2020

Sound Designer/Manager

This technical wizard will set up microphones on performers and in various places in the theatre. They are responsible for checking sound levels and equipment functionality, running sound checks, and other tasks using the production equipment that is available or rented for amateur theatre groups.

They help with coordinating microphones and volume. This wizard will supervise the sound levels during final rehearsals and performances, preferably from a command post in the theatre.  A sound crew will be needed backstage to assist with microphones.

Example: Mr. Karparthy, a retired radio technician,  is willing to help run the sound for Higgins High. Doolittle and Pickering will owe him a favour when his next show comes around. This is what colleagues are for.

For play performances of a non-musical nature in amateur theatre, actors are required to 'project' their voices from the stage for the audiences.  Sound may be used simply as background music to enhance the performances.
