Who Cares What Age You Are?

November 8, 2020

Did you know that our virtual theatre play, HO, HO, HO! The North Pole Chronicles, has a cast of 15, ranging in age from 8 to 90?  Or that actors are as far away as Sudbury or the Guelph area?   Or that every one is rehearsing 3 times a week?

Doing a virtual production allows this huge draw and helps to create a community, even if online.  Hanover Community Players prides itself on offering theatre to all ages, particularly for their Christmas production.  Not being in the theatre is difficult but we adjust with the times.  Virtual theatre, here we come!

One young actor told her parent that she loves doing this (it's the first time) and wishes she could meet the others in person, she's enjoying it so much.

The production team is pleased with the amount of effort that each actor is putting into their own props and costumes, particularly when it's difficult for our costumer to provide things from our stock.

Dealing with 'lag time' on Zoom, losing actors due to snow storms in their area, the internet going down because of a power failure, all pose situations that have to be overcome 'on the fly' but we're learning! Doing this live will be a challenge.

A big shout out to all of the parents supporting their sons and daughters as well as those who feel a little older, for hanging in and ensuring that every one has the opportunity to do their part.  A huge thank you to the production team as well.  We couldn't do it without you!
