Youth Theatre Contest

Hanover Community Players is sponsoring a theatre contest for students of local high schools grades 9 to 12.

This contest will involve preparing a 10 minute play and presenting it in video format to be judged on costuming, acting, use of props, voice work, and other areas of acting suitable for high school. You will not need to build a set. You may perform in front of black curtains or a suitable location that fits the narrative of the script.

There are many locations online that offer free scripts for such use. The purpose of this contest is to boost interest in theatre in conjunction with your school drama department and the Community Theatre.

Students may appear in only one role with a speaking part. Your school may submit more than one video. If students appear in another video they must be in a non-speaking, supporting role.

The deadline for submissions is November 26, 2021

All participants must sign a release allowing their performance to be viewed on social media, as well as prior to the opening of upcoming Hanover Community Players productions. Participants must be listed in the credits at the beginning of each video along with their character names.  Parent/Guardian permission will be needed due to privacy issues.

Three cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries. This money may be used by the students or donated to their drama departments.  The drama department of the winning student submission will also receive a cash prize.
